“Where there is no vision, the people perish.” – Proverbs 29:18
You may have heard this scripture from the Holy Bible many times but have you really grasped the simple meaning? A vision is the ability to see, imagine, or seeing someone or something in a dream. To perish means to die or be destroyed. In other words, if you or the people you are leading have no plans for the future your group or yourself will eventually be destroyed. I don’t know about you but I certainly will not intentionally contribute in any way to my own destruction! Who has time for that?
Now the question is how do you go about creating a life plan? The answer can also be found in the Holy Bible. In Habakkuk 2:2 it reads, “..Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.” Perfect. Write down your dreams and goals on a tablet, in the form of a business plan, on the wall, or on a board so that anyone who reads it such as you, potential business partners, your family, or future investors can run and take some kind of action to make the vision a reality.
One of the popular tools used today to create a vision plan is usually a simple poster board or bulletin board filled with images of the things you want to do, have, or be at some point in the future. You may even check around your community and see if there is a Vision Board Gathering scheduled, usually held more frequent at the beginning of the year. You can possibly turn it into a fun project with the family discussing what you would like to do together as a group. There are so many areas that you can cover when creating a vision plan and/or board for your life. In additional to family goals but also personal goals for physical and mental health, spirituality, career and business, educational, and recreational. Take pictures of your vision board to set as computer and mobile screensavers or wallpaper backgrounds. It is also a good idea to place the vision board in a prominent place for all members involved to see it daily.
Having a vision plan for your life helps to bring more clarity, perspective and understanding to your specific goals allowing you to focus and move daily toward the things you wish to accomplish. As Oprah Winfrey once stated, “Create the highest, grandest vision possible for your life because you become what you believe.”
My very best wishes to your continued success!
