I am super excited to continue my goal of reading a motivational or personal development book per week. Below is my list for February 2016.
- The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson
- The Lost Choice by Andy Andrews
- Act Like A Success Think Like A Success by Steve Harvey
- David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell
- The Noticer by Andy Andrews
- A Setback is a Setup for a Comeback by Willie Jolley
- Lost & Found by Sarah Jakes
The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson was recommended by many business owners and it sure was a great book to grab. It explains simple principles that you can incorporate into your life that will ultimately get you to your goal. I have already begun using the slight edge principles in my life and am very satisfied. The Lost Choice is another good story from author Andy Andrews. We follow the history of ancient stones where the holder made a choice to do something important and impactful with their lives. Act Like A Success Think Like A Success by Steve Harvey was an easy read and I enjoyed it. It helps you to change your mindset about where you are and want to be in life.
David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell shares stories and discusses situations in which the underdog, against insurmountable odds, meet with a huge victory. The Noticer is yet another wonderful story by Andy Andrews. When you take a step back from any situation you are facing in life and look at it from someone else’s point of view you can gain a whole new perspective. The characters in this book go through some of the problems that we face and they learn to overcome them by changing their perspective. I picked up A Setback is a Setup for a Comeback by Willie Jolley because I am currently going through a setback. There were many stories of people who overcame their setback and made a huge comeback because they simply refused to give up. A setback is a bend in the road not the end of the road. Lastly, Lost & Found by Sarah Jakes captured my interest because it is a story of hope. Sarah Jakes, youngest daughter of well known pastor Bishop T.D. Jakes, shares her journey of some of life’s ups and downs that she experienced so far.
I am very thankful to have begun this goal as I have definitely learned a lot and it is only February, month two! I’ve noticed my reading as increased and so has my curiosity. In addition to reading, I have also been learning about different countries and lives of notable people in history via videos. The countries include Italy, South Africa, Iceland, Greenland, and Paris some of which I plan to visit one day. Notable people include The Roosevelt’s, John and Abigail Adams, Frederick Douglas and Winston Churchill. It just keeps getting interested. Stay tuned for next month and happy reading!
